San Fermín en Nueva Orleans: ¿Por qué no?
¿Por qué no? More pictures at nola.com.
* One thing I would like to point out about this day: the pervasiveness of Mexican symbolism. San Fermín is a Spanish event, and there were many nods to Spain and to the original running of the bulls in Pamplona. But there were also many sombreros, fake Pancho Villa mustaches, lucha libre masks, piñatas and mariachi costumes - images usually associated (by Americans) with Mexico. Music played included merengue, salsa, Shakira and mariachi music. It's a great example of how Americans often fail to distinguish the various Spanish-language cultures. Spain is not Mexico, Latin Americans are not Spanish, Pancho Villa never ran with the bulls in Pamplona.
