Oscar Wao: Capítulo Cuatro

boricua – someone from Puerto Rico, from the Taino word for the island, Boriquen

cuerno – horn, in context of the story, dick

guangua – Taino word for something similar to fukú

jíbara - possibly a Taino word, now used for a Puerto Rican from a rural area, also the music of rural PR

La Jablesse – a West Indian myth of a beautiful woman with one human foot and one hoof, she lure in men with her beauty and then steals their souls, apparently the smoke from a cigarette or a dog is enough to scare her away, seems to be more popular in the English-speaking islands like Trinidad
